Kimberly Wilson – Greenwich High School – March 14, 2013
Two posts in a row from “work”! Astounding. No need to go into the details of why the school schedule and doings accounted for this performance – some time needed to be filled for a large group of students, and I benefit. Wilson has a one-woman shtick entitled “A Journey”; it’s a tour-de-force song/dance/acting compendium of episodes of historical African-American female character studies, beginning with the distaff version of Kunta Kinte being hauled off into slavery. The Rosa Parks segment was right in front of me so I couldn’t resist. Her versatile blue patterned shawl was imaginatively pressed into duty in a different format, from head to toe, with each character she played.
