String Force\u00a0 –\u00a0 Governor’s Island\u00a0 –\u00a0 September 4, 2011<\/p>\n

This recital was the final installment of the “Rite of Summer” music festival on Governor’s Island, featuring some up-and-comers working the solo piano and piano\/violin duet formats.\u00a0 Goldberg is active in developing new (read: less stodgy) venues for classical music, vital to the vibrant\u00a0 NYC scene, including this one with co-director McMillen.\u00a0 The above use of the term “classical” is kind of loose, since of the 6 composers represented in this concert, only one was born before 1900, and 4 are still with us.\u00a0 Cuckson & McMillen closed out with a highly spirited rendition of John Adams’s “Road Movies”.<\/p>\n
