Christian McBride & Inside Straight – Vassar College – October 27, 2012
McBride has assembled the cream of the crop for this combo, all serious players. He has a semi-standup-comic narration to go along with it (he has done a hilarious session on The Moth or one of the similar slammin’ radio shows, so he has the humor chops). And he is an educator, so you learn stuff while amused. The Juilliard jazz program DNA (see previous blog) runs rampant through this band.
