Bill Charlap Trio – Greenwich Library Cole Auditorium – November 18, 2012
Charlap arrived with his full sympatico trio-mates, the two unrelated Washingtons. I would have to look it up (actually I just did), but believe that Kenny was on drums when we saw Betty Carter at the Bottom Line, that’s waaay back. Charlap has a lot of interesting places to go, many, with my thorough approval, from “West Side Story”. He seemingly turns the playing over to his well-trained hands, so as to be better able to ponder a few turns ahead, and the rhythm section keeps churning/offering up new possibilities.
