Regina Carter – Brooklyn Museum – March 13, 2011
We’ve seen music at Brooklyn Museum before, but this was the first sketching. Violinist Regina Carter received a MacArthur Fellowship a few years back, used it to travel to Africa to investigate indigenous/folk music there, fused it up with jazz and voila! Called “Reverse Thread”. The kora player and the instrument itself – which he constructed – are both awesome, and all players were up to the task. Thanks again to Weill Music Institute.
